Sternenko case taken away from Odesa investigators over suspected collusion between attackers and law enforcers, - Lutsenko
As reported by Censor.NET, Lutsenko said on air of 1+1 TV channel that the probe into the most recent attack on Sternenko was transferred from Odesa to Kyiv.
"His case was taken from the Odesa [investigators] because it is suspected that there are certain corruption-based and personal ties between the attackers and individual law enforcement officers. It was entrusted to the central investigation unit of the Security Service of Ukraine," he said.
Lutsenko added that he was confident that Sternenko attackers would be brought to justice and as for the customers, "we still have to work on that."
Late on May 24, 2018, Sternenko was attacked by two individuals but according to him, he was fast enough "to apply the right to self-defense" and "use his knife." The activist wounded one of the attackers who later died from loss of blood. The police apprehended the second assailant but later cut him loose granting him a witness status.
