On April 1, the spring conscription begins in Russia. About 150 thousand men are subject to it, who will be officially recruited in the occupied Crimea.

However, according to human rights activists, the Russians are actively preparing all the currently occupied territories of Ukraine for conscription, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Current time.

Among other things, the age limit for so-called volunteers has been increased from 55 to 60 years. "Local residents are afraid because they realize that there is no such word as 'voluntary' there," said Ukrainian human rights activist Pavlo Lysyansky. Forced passportization also continues.

"The border of the occupied territory with the regions of the Russian Federation, with the regions, mainly Rostov region, is under increased control. In fact, men of military age, starting from the age of 17, are not allowed to leave the occupied territories. Currently, all institutions - universities, vocational schools, technical colleges - have been instructed to prepare lists of men from the age of 16 who are fit for the army and military service," said Lysyansky. He reminded that in the Russian Federation, at the age of 16, a person is issued a registration certificate indicating readiness for military service.

Similar actions were taken at enterprises.

In the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, the occupiers announced the creation of a "militia" of volunteers to protect them.

In prisons, the occupiers are using all means to pressure prisoners to take up arms and join the assault units, which can be called cannon fodder.

Lysyansky reminded that the "volunteers" are not covered by social guarantees that Russian military personnel are.

According to him, official Russian conscription in the occupied territories is possible after the "elections" in September 2023.

"Currently, the human resource in the occupied territories is considered only as a volunteer and some other kind of resource, it will be used to support the actions of the Russian occupation army, that is, in fact, they will be forcibly mobilized men who will be sent forward to minefields, to assault positions, so that as few Russian military occupation troops as possible die," Lysyansky said. The human rights activist emphasized that they are submitting reports on violations in the occupied territories, including to the International Criminal Court.
