Ukraine demands that Russia return more than 4,000 orphans who were illegally taken to the Russian Federation.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk stated this during her visit to Zaporizhzhia, Censor.NET reports with reference to Radio Liberty.

"Russia is deliberately blurring the focus of the media, the focus of society, calling all children evacuees, saying that they did us a huge favor by taking our children, that it was a humanitarian mission, it was their good attitude and salvation. This is not so. It is a crime, it is deportation is an act of genocide against Ukrainian children. And we record it every time. We turned to Russia with a written list of the names of orphans whom we demand to be returned. Actually, 4,396 names of our children," Vereshchuk said.

She added that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with all international organizations on the issue of the return of Ukrainian children deported to the Russian Federation.

"We are ready to take our children to any EU country, where they will hand them over to us at the border with Russia through the mediation of either UNICEF or the International Committee of the Red Cross, through the mediation of other international organizations that are ready to leave and take our children. We insist on so that all children are returned, because all children have a legal representative. The state, which is the legal representative of such children, is ready to take responsibility for their lives and their comfortable stay," added Iryna Vereshchuk.

On April 2, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, is on an official visit to the Zaporizhzhia region.
