The NATO Parliamentary Assembly has unanimously recognised Russia’s crimes against Ukraine as genocide and the terrorist regime in Russia as ruscism.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the head of Ukraine's permanent delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Yehor Chernev.

According to Chernev, the Assembly's session in Luxembourg adopted a declaration containing the unanimous support of NATO parliamentarians for the international tribunal and assistance to Ukraine before and after the victory.

In addition, the document recognises Russia's crimes against Ukraine as genocide, condemns the ideology of racism, supports the restoration of territorial integrity, sanctions, reparations, and the "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine, the MP said.

"At the assembly session in Luxembourg, we achieved the adoption of an extremely strong declaration that will have far-reaching political consequences," Chernev stated.

In addition, the Assembly called on their governments to openly announce at the Vilnius Summit that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance and to agree on the next concrete steps for Ukraine's accession to NATO.

"This is our diplomatic victory. All of our key wishes regarding the final text of the declaration have been taken into account," Chernev said.

The MP stressed that thanks to this decision, "the foundation for the NATO summit in Vilnius has been laid".

"Allied parliamentarians have expressed their position. Now it's up to the governments," the MP added.

As a reminder, in March, the head of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine, Erik Møse, stated that the investigation into human rights violations in Ukraine had not found evidence of genocide committed by the Russian Federation.

On 27 April, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe recognised the deportation and forced transfer of Ukrainian children to the territory of the Russian Federation as genocide.

On 17 March 2023, the Pre-Trial Chamber issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Alekseevna Lvova-Belova, who is the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Affairs. Putin and Lvova-Belova are suspected of committing the war crime of illegal deportation of children from the occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation, which has been taking place since at least 24 February 2022.

On 02 May 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine officially recognised ruscism as the state ideology of Russia.
