Tomorrow, Verkhovna Rada committee will consider resolution on sanctions against Iran, - Venislavsky
This was announced by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, the President's representative in the Verkhovna Rada Fedir Venislavsky on the air of the telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
"Tomorrow, our Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, as the main specialized committee, will consider it (the resolution. - Ed.). I am convinced that all deputies will support the introduction of such sanctions," Venislavsky said.
He noted that the sanctions will not be of "critical" importance for Iran, but they may lead to unforeseen consequences for the regime there.
"I think this is a step that we should have taken a long time ago. We will take it in the near future, and it will be synchronous with the actions that the entire civilized world has taken to date in order to completely isolate Iran from the opportunities it has for economic growth and maintaining the economic level," Venislavsky noted, adding that Ukrainian sanctions will have negative consequences for Iran either in the short or medium term.
He reminded that transit transportation to Iran is still carried out through the territory of Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine buys some agricultural products from Iran, including dried fruits and nuts.
"We spoke with the acting head of the State Customs Service at the time, and he said that there are enough trucks with Iranian goods at the customs borders of Ukraine. And this is a step that must be taken without a doubt," Venislavsky emphasized.
It will be recalled that Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution approving the decision of the National Security Council on the introduction of sanctions against Iran.
