Klymenko also said that more than 5,300 rescuers, police officers, and representatives of local executive authorities are inspecting bomb shelters in Ukraine. Such inspections will continue.
As reported, on the night of 1 June 2023, three people, including a 9-year-old child, were killed in a rocket attack by Russian occupiers in the capital. Residents tried to get into the shelter of a polyclinic in the Desnianskyi district, but the doors were closed.
One of the local residents said he woke up the guard in the shelter after the explosion, as he said he showed signs of intoxication.
Kyiv police opened a criminal investigation into the denial of access to the shelter during the air raid alert. The prosecutor's office said that investigative actions were underway at the clinic where the shelter was not opened. The polyclinic's security guard was taken for a test for possible intoxication.
Subsequently, the Kyiv authorities announced that the shelters in the capital would remain open at all times.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that specific people would be held accountable for the fact that a shelter in Kyiv was closed during an air raid, killing and injuring residents.
On the evening of 1 June, the first deputy head of the Desniansky District State Administration, the director of the medical facility, and his deputy, as well as a polyclinic security guard were detained.
