By end of 2023, almost seven thousand shelters will be brought into proper condition, - Kamyshin
This was announced by the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin, Censor.NET reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
"By the end of the year, 2956 shelters will be made. A total of 6 847 shelters will be built this year. This is about a little more than 10% of the total country's shelter stock," he said.
Kamyshin recalled that in June 2023, the government appointed the Ministry of Strategic Industries responsible for coordinating and controlling bringing shelters into proper condition. According to the minister, 1287 shelters were made till May, and 2604 from June to September.
The Coordination Headquarters for Shelters is headed by Deputy Minister Tymur Tkachenko.
At the moment, according to the department, the total number of shelters in the fund of protective structures of civil defense is 61,803.
Earlier, the State Emergency Service reported that the available number of shelters is enough to protect only half of the population.
