Against the backdrop of the scandal with Iryna Farion, the Ministry of Education and Science supported the demands of students not to cooperate with people who do not respect the defenders of Ukraine.

This is stated in the answer of the Ministry of Education and Culture to the request of Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.

The Ministry stated that in addition to the educational function, universities have the task of shaping the personality and worldview of the student. Therefore, teachers should not only impart knowledge to young people but also cultivate respect for fundamental values. Among them are human dignity and respect for Ukrainian defenders. For this, higher education institutions should elect to their staff those teachers who themselves are carriers of such ideas.

"The Ministry supports the demands of students to higher education institutions not to cooperate with people who do not share fundamental values, such as human dignity and respect for our defenders," the message reads.

The Ministry of Education and Science noted that universities independently appoint and dismiss teachers and educators. Therefore, universities are responsible for ensuring that these people are "not only qualified specialists, but also people with high values and moral convictions."

The head of the communications center of Lviv Polytechnic, Nataliia Pavlyshyn, told the journalists that the position of the university, which was made public on the evening of November 7, is unchanged. The statement states that Lviv Polytechnic is not responsible for the statements of employees and students outside the university.

We will remind you that on November 7, Iryna Farion stated that she does not consider the Russian-speaking soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be Ukrainians. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets saw this as a violation of the equality of citizens and stated that he turned to the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting to take appropriate measures. The soldiers from the front line responded to the linguist in Ukrainian, calling her a "stupid #ck".

Subsequently, the collegium and trade union committee of the students of the Lviv Polytechnic National University, where Farion teaches, called on law enforcement officers to check her statements for insulting the honor and dignity of the military.
