Cabinet of Ministers will propose to abolish part-time form of study, - Ministry of Education
Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vinnytskyi said this on the air of the nationwide telethon "United News", Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
"In the draft law, which was initially submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, there was a proposal not to enroll in a part-time form of study next year, but there was a decision of the Committee on Education, Science and Innovation to remove this norm. But we need to understand that we have the next draft law, which should go as a government bill, where we propose to the ministry to abolish part-time education and completely replace it with distance learning. And also a flexible form of full-time form, the so-called individual trajectory, where there may be less load on full-time form, which will allow the student to study and work at the same time," Vinnitskyi said.
According to him, the part-time form, which entered the Ukrainian education system as a kind of vestige of the Soviet one, has outlived its usefulness.
"Over the past three years, the distance form has developed greatly in Ukraine. Due to the fact that there was a covid, now a full-scale invasion, a technically improved remote form, and now it is actively developing, including in asynchronous formats, where the applicant for education does not necessarily have to be present with the teacher during training. This turns out to be much more effective than the part-time form," the deputy minister is convinced.
He noted that now the part-time form of education, unfortunately, does not indicate the quality of education, but rather about obtaining a "wallpaper degree".
Vinnytskyi added that any transformations in the field of higher education are proposed for entrants in 2024, so those who have already entered under a certain form of study will complete their studies according to the form in which they entered.
He expressed hope that parliament will contribute to the introduction of these changes.
