650 thous. men of military age have left Ukraine for EU countries since beginning of full-scale war - media
This was reported by the Austrian edition of Exxpress and BBC Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
According to Eurostat, there are 650,000 Ukrainian male refugees in 27 EU member states, as well as in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Norway, who are subject to conscription due to their age, the newspaper notes.
In addition, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, about 6.3 million citizens have left Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, most of whom are women and children.
According to an analysis of Eurostat data conducted by BBC Ukraine, 4.2 million people currently have official temporary protection status in the EU. Of these, 18.3% (768 thousand) are men aged 18 to 64 years.
At the same time, Exxpress received data on the age category of 18 - 60 years. It is noted that only those who left Ukraine no earlier than February 24, 2022, can obtain this status.
"However, the publication and statistics do not specify how many of these men left legally as parents of three children, disabled people of 2nd group or other categories of persons who have the right to do so. Also, men who could leave for the EU from the territories occupied by Russia are not counted separately," the journalists said.
According to the German Ministry of Internal Affairs, since the start of the full-scale invasion, 221,571 Ukrainian people between the ages of 18 and 60 have arrived in Germany alone. Of these, 189,484 are still there.
This data only takes into account those who are officially registered. The German Interior Ministry believes that another 100,000 are not registered and are in the country illegally.
In Austria, the situation is similar: at least 14,000 Ukrainian men entered there, probably with forged documents or using the "services" of smugglers.
