The Belarusian Red Cross ceased to be a member of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies due to its participation in the deportation of Ukrainian children and non-compliance with the demand for the dismissal of Dmitry Shevtsov, Secretary General of the National Society.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

"The removal is the result of the failure of the Belarusian Red Cross to comply with the demand for the dismissal of Mr. Dmitry Shevtsov, Secretary General of the National Society," the Red Cross said.

The demand for removal was put forward after Shevtsov made a number of scandalous statements about nuclear weapons, the deportation of children from Ukraine to Belarus, as well as trips to the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk.

According to the Red Cross, the removal means that the Belarusian Red Cross loses its rights as a member of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies. Also, any funding for the Belarusian Red Cross will be stopped.

The Belarusian Red Cross will not be able to participate in the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies and will not be able to vote or be elected at any statutory meeting.

At the same time, the Belarusian Red Cross can be restored after it fulfills the requirements of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
