The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 10060 on strengthening the independence of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

This was reported by People's Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak, Censor.NET reports.

"The independence of the SAPO is generally accepted. There were 298 votes in favor. Unfortunately, the draft law only partially repeals some of the provisions of the Lozovyi amendments," the parliamentarian noted.

Zhelezniak reminded that the adoption of the draft law is one of the requirements of the IMF and the EU, as well as the G7 ambassadors.

"However, the latter's position on Lozovyi's amendments was ignored," he added.

People's Deputy Oleksii Honcharenko explained that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office was removed from the structure of the Prosecutor General's Office and organized into a separate prosecutorial body.

" It is about:

Improving the procedure of competitive selection for administrative positions in the SAPO and positions of prosecutors;

Creation of a separate procedure for disciplinary proceedings against SAPO prosecutors;

Determining the mechanism of accountability of the SAPO leadership based on the assessment of the SAPO's performance," added the People's Deputy.
