Cyberattack on Kyivstar was one of most destructive in Ukraine since beginning of February 2022, - British intelligence
According to Censor.NET, this is stated in a report by the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
"The cyberattack on Ukraine's largest mobile operator, Kyivstar, is likely to be one of the most devastating cyberattacks on Ukrainian networks since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, as it affected government resources and emergency services in Ukraine," the report said.
It noted that the "effects" of the cyberattack on Kyivstar lasted at least 48 hours, affecting the company's mobile and data services.
"As a result of the cyberattack, users were left without a mobile signal and the ability to use the Internet. Kyivstar reported that no personal data was compromised during the attack," the report said.
"It is also reported that as a result of the cyberattack, air raid sirens, some banks, ATMs and point-of-sale terminals were disabled. At the same time, the Ukrainian bank Monobank suffered a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that disrupted access to the bank's website," the intelligence service said.
As a reminder, on the morning of 12 December, Kyivstar mobile operator experienced a large-scale failure.
Kyivstar announced a powerful hacker attack.
The SSU is investigating the cyberattack. The possibility of Russian special services involvement is being considered.
