UN and Red Cross ignore video on which Russians use prisoners as "human shields", - Lubinets
Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, stated this on the air of the telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
According to the ombudsman, the Ukrainian side managed to establish that the footage was not edited, and the video was real. There is also an understanding of where and by whom exactly it was recorded.
"Preliminarily, we even guess as to which of the servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces committed this crime," Lubinets said.
At the same time, there was no reaction from the Red Cross and the UN, despite the flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions by the Russian invaders, which was recorded in the footage.
The ombudsman noted that similar ignoring of the facts of war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine by the UN and the ICRC has recently been systemic.
"Once again we report on war crimes, and again - no reaction," says Lubinets.
It will be recalled that the use of Ukrainian prisoners of war as "human shields" on the front line in the Zaporizhzhia region was previously captured on video. Footage of the Russians leading captured, unarmed soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the muzzles of machine guns toward Ukrainian positions, and covering themselves with them, circulated in the media.
The Prosecutor General's Office initiated criminal proceedings for violation of the laws and customs of war (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
