Switzerland plans to hold international conference on humanitarian demining in Ukraine
According to Censor.NET, citing European Pravda, Swiss President Viola Amherd announced this at a press conference on January 15 following talks with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President of the Swiss Federal Council emphasized that demining is a central issue for the future reconstruction of Ukraine and reminded that last year her country approved a four-year assistance package worth 100 million francs.
"A conference on this issue will be held in Geneva this October," she announced, without elaborating.
Amherd noted that humanitarian demining is a prerequisite for the return of displaced Ukrainians to their homes and harvesting.
"If a large exporting country like Ukraine has less harvest, it will have global negative consequences, as we know," explained the head of the Swiss Federal Council.
