Ukraine produces its own demining machines – Deputy Minister Hvozdiar
This was stated by Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries Hanna Hvozdiar, Censor.NET reports with reference to Suspilne.
According to Hvozdiar, there is a considerable demand for equipment that can perform detection - to determine the state of contamination or mining of the territory.
"We are facing the first products that should determine whether the territory is contaminated or mined. Detection is a very important thing. Because the Russians used mines not only with a metal fuze but also wooden, textile, plastic mines without any metal element, which are difficult to detect," she explained.
Due to the difference in soil in the northern and southern regions, explosives and mines can "behave differently." Therefore, according to the deputy minister, different equipment is needed for demining in different areas.
"We have the first mechanical demining machines made in Ukraine. There are only 3 types of them: roller, hammer and milling. Currently, there is one hammer-type machine that is in use and being purchased. They are already being manufactured in larger quantities and they are already working. We already have a machine for preparing the roller type," she said.
Hanna Hvozdiar added that Ukraine also produces equipment for demining.
"We are working together with the Howard Buffett Foundation to recycle civilian bulldozers for civilian demining. We have now approved the project, approved the technical documentation and are starting to work," the official emphasized. According to Hvozdiar, foreign companies that have supplied or plan to supply such equipment to Ukraine are "thinking" about localizing production.
