Ukraine should optimize payments to internally displaced persons. International partners make such a demand to Ukraine.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, stated this on the telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

"Partners set demands to optimize payments," Vereshchuk said.

The official said that the changes in payments are related to the reduction of the revenue part of the budget.

"We are directly tied to the decisions of our partners. Partners make demands to constantly verify payments to reduce or optimize them. It is about the fact that according to international standards, 2 years is enough to adapt," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

She said that in 2022, Ukraine allocated 57 billion hryvnias for payments to displaced persons. In 2023, this amount increased to 73 billion hryvnias. It is planned that in 2024, money for assistance to IDPs will again amount to about 57 billion hryvnias.

"Vulnerables should continue to receive payments, and those who have already, for example, adapted, or received housing, or have a well-paid job... approaches should be fairer," the minister clarified.

According to her data, there are approximately 4.9 million people in Ukraine who are considered internally displaced. Of these, 2.5 million receive monthly payments. Vereshchuk noted that the number of IDPs is constantly changing due to the migration of people abroad or their return to their homes (then they lose the status of IDPs), however, there is also an increase in their number due to the evacuation of people from the frontline areas.
