Liashko: 17 strains of coronavirus were detected in Ukraine
This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
"According to our epidemiological surveillance, 17 strains of Covid-19 are circulating in Ukraine, including a new strain that was recently discovered - Jenny. If we look at our morbidity rate, we see an increase in the number of coronavirus cases by the end of January, but we also see an increase in the number of flu cases, which is not typical for previous epidemics," the minister said.
He added that since mid-October, almost 2.5 million people have already contracted influenza and flu-like illnesses, and, unfortunately, there are fatalities.
According to him, the number of hospitalizations is not at all the same as it was in 2020-2022, and infectious diseases hospitals are easily coping with the number of patients admitted to hospitals.
Lyashko warned that the second peak in the incidence of influenza and ARVI is expected in February.
The minister reminded that the coronavirus vaccine is available and free of charge, and that you should contact your family doctor for vaccination.
