Ministry of Defense plans to use demining products in production of new ammunition
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
"According to various estimates, more than 20% of the fired ammunition does not detonate. To this should be added the active use of mines. What should we do in the future? We see that there are technological solutions, and we are trying to launch mobile ammunition disposal complexes," said Deputy Defense Minister Yurii Dzhyhyr.
Such complexes are widely used around the world. Especially in those countries where there have been or are ongoing hostilities that have left large areas mined. Ukraine is currently looking for ways to obtain these systems.
"The advantages of this initiative are that the complexes are mobile, their movement and disposal are safe, and they make it possible to reuse the resulting disposal products for the production of new ammunition," the official explained.
The Ministry of Defense is currently working on legislative changes to enable the use of such systems. Necessary consultations have already been held with the State Emergency Service, the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, internal departmental units and organizations involved in humanitarian demining to launch the pilot project as soon as possible.
