At the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, parliamentarians will consider a draft law to ban the UOC-MP.

This was stated by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, "servant of the people" Mykyta Poturaiev, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.

Poturaiev called the decision of the conciliation board not to submit this draft law to the session hall for voting in the second reading on July 23 due to the allegedly insufficient number of deputy votes for its adoption erroneous.

"The conciliation board voted against putting the draft law on the agenda. They mistakenly believed that there would not be enough votes for this draft law. And this draft law is so sensitive that it should be put on the agenda only if you are absolutely sure that there will be enough votes for it," the People's Deputy said.

According to the "servant of the people," it later turned out that the votes of the deputies were quite enough to pass the bill, but the conciliation board scheduled the issue for consideration at the next plenary session.

"If we had voted yesterday, we would have definitely had 240 votes in the hall, or even 250. But we didn't know this in the morning. The Conciliation Board made a protocol decision, which cannot be changed, that the next plenary session will begin with this draft law. The next plenary session will be held approximately in mid-August. I am confident that we will vote for this draft law in the second reading and in general," he added.

As reported earlier, on July 23, 2024, People's Deputies blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada because they refused to put on the agenda the issue of banning the UOC-MP.
