Despite significant losses, Russian army has powerful combat forces that have hardly suffered from war - Cavoli
Russia still has forces that were not fully engaged in the war. These include long-range aviation, strategic missile forces, defence units and submarines. Most of Russia's tactical aviation has not yet been involved in the conflict.
According to Censor.NET with reference to Business Insider, this was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli.
According to him, the Russian military operating in Ukraine and the strikes they carry out should be seen in the context of their entire military structure.
"So, despite the significant losses in the ground sphere, the rest of Russia's military structure still has a huge potential - both conventional and nuclear = and so we need to keep that in mind," Cavoli warned.
He stressed that while Russian ground forces suffered serious losses during the fighting in Ukraine, Moscow has taken significant steps to rebuild them:
"The military force - the ground force - inside Ukraine today is much larger than the ground force that was there at the beginning of the war, so the Russian army has actually grown over this period."
At the same time, according to the general, the Russians are having problems with the quality of their weapons, some equipment may not be the latest, but it is again localised for the ground forces."
"Russia has a plan to rebuild these ground forces and deploy them, again, on NATO's borders. This is a plan that they have made public, that they have talked about, and it is something that we have to take very seriously," Cavoli added.
As a reminder, the first DPRK military units that trained at eastern Russian training grounds have already arrived in the combat zone of the Russian-Ukrainian war, in particular, on 23 October 2024, they were recorded in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
