The media have spread information about the automatic deprivation of driver's licenses for failure to appear under draft notice, but this is not true.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The ministry explained that in practice, they cannot deprive a driver's license for such a failure to appear.

Restriction of the right to drive a car

At the same time, the law provides for a temporary restriction on the right to drive for citizens who evade military duty, which can be imposed only by a court decision.

"To do this: The territorial recruitment center must file a lawsuit with the court if a citizen ignores the requirements for performing military duty.

The procedure for filing a lawsuit must include a detailed description of the requirements to be met and documentary evidence of the citizen's evasion of duty.

After reviewing the claim, the court decides on a temporary restriction of the right to drive only if it confirms that the citizen has evaded and failed to fulfill his or her military duty," the Defense Ministry explained.

Thus, a decision to temporarily restrict a driver's license is made only after a court hearing and upon confirmation of a violation of the requirements for performing military duty.
