Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry on conversation between Scholz and Putin: Strong actions are needed, not persuasion and attempts at appeasement
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized the telephone conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to Censor.NET, this is stated in the commentary of the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhii Tykhyi.
"The German side announced that it was going to talk to Putin. But even if the German Chancellor did not express any positions that would contradict the position of Ukraine, conversations with the Russian dictator do not carry any added value for achieving a just peace," the commentary says.
In addition, it is emphasized that long conversations are a resource that Russian dictator Putin has been using for more than 20 years to achieve his interests.
The Foreign Ministry added that the talks now only give Putin hope of easing his international isolation.
"We need concrete strong actions that will force him to peace, not persuasion and attempts at appeasement, which he regards as a sign of weakness and uses for his own purposes. Specific actions are known - and this is, first of all, the withdrawal of the occupier's troops from the territory of Ukraine," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.
As a reminder, on November 15, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke on the phone with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the first time in two years. After this conversation, Scholz intends to talk to Zelenskyy.
For his part, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was a "Pandora's box." According to the president, it is extremely important for Putin to weaken his isolation.
