President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the information that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were allegedly creating new brigades despite a significant understaffing of existing ones.

According to Censor.NET, the head of state said this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.

"Who told you that we are creating them (new brigades - Ed.)? Who is spreading the message that we are creating new brigades," Zelenskyy replied to the host's question.

"Their core were people who had been through the war. Around them were those who had mobilised. It is better if they (the newly mobilised - Ed.) have experienced commanders. If the entire vertical is experienced. They were not thrown straight to the front. After training, everyone was waiting for equipment," Zelenskyy explained.

The President clarified that reserve units are needed for rotation at the frontline.

"All this talk about new brigades means that in order to have a rotation, another brigade must replace one. We can call it 'new'. That's why no one has created dozens of new brigades. There are some moments when, for example, a particular brigade can no longer hold a certain width of land. Because they are tired. Not only can't you replace it, but the number of Russian troops in the area means that you need to reinforce it with an additional brigade. Because the number of Russians is one to eight, or one to three," Zelenskyy concluded.
