During an extraordinary meeting of the European Parliament on the occasion of 1000 days since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola assured of continued support for Ukraine.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

"Since Russia launched its brutal invasion of Ukraine, 1000 days of terror, suffering and incredible losses have passed. 1000 days of courage, resilience and indomitable spirit. For 1,000 days, the people of Ukraine and you, President Zelenskyy, have shown the world what true courage looks like. You have persevered, refusing to be broken. Your people are an inspiration to all who value freedom around the world. And for 1,000 days now, this European Parliament has stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Ukraine and their representatives in the Verkhovna Rada, united and unwavering. And we will continue to support Ukraine, today, tomorrow and every day, for as long as it takes," Metsola said.

In addition, she emphasized that Russia's war is "an attack not only on Ukraine, but also on the rule-based order, an attack on our values and our way of life." According to her, peace, democracy and freedom are at stake.

"And we know what sacrifices the Ukrainian people are making not only for their own sake, but for the sake of all of us. I will always be proud that this Parliament has led the movement to support Ukraine with political, financial, humanitarian and military assistance. And we will always stand for peace. Real peace based on justice, dignity and the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine," she continued.

Metsola also recalled the severe sanctions imposed on Russia and the calls to "go even further to hit the Russian military machine."

"That is why we were the first to call for Ukraine's rightful place in our European Union. And that is why we were there in Kyiv just weeks after the invasion began. Today we are sending a clear, simple message. We stand with Ukraine, for freedom, for real peace. As long as it takes. Glory to Ukraine," summarized the President of the European Parliament.
