We have to make sure that Ukraine wins - Rutte
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that Ukraine must win the war, which poses a direct threat to the West.
According to Censor.NET, citing Interfax-Ukraine, Rutte said this upon arrival at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting at the level of defense ministers in Brussels.
"Why is it so important that Putin does not get his way? Because he will have a bolder Russia on our border, which will win in terms of territorial mass, win in terms of military potential. And I am absolutely convinced that it will not stop there. Then it poses a direct threat to all of us in the West," he told Rutte.
The Secretary General also reminded that in 2014, the Russians seized Crimea, then the war began, and the full-fledged Russian offensive began in late February 2022, 1000 days ago.
"I could not be more proud of what Ukraine has done to win, being four times smaller, having an economy that is only 25% of the size of the Russian economy. We in the West and the rest of the world were ready to give Ukraine what it needed to win and prevent Putin from winning," the NATO Secretary General said.
Rutte emphasized that "our values are at stake, our collective security is also at stake."
"We have to make sure that Ukraine wins, and that is at the top of the agenda today. Especially now that North Korea has intervened, with this massive air strike last weekend and the 1000th day today," Rutte added.
