12 countries are uniting to strengthen security and support Ukraine in the Northern Group-Ukraine alliance.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umierov, Censor.NET reports.

"New alliances to support Ukraine. We are expanding our horizons: we are launching cooperation within the Northern Group-Ukraine," Umierov said.

It will include 12 countries, in particular:

  • The Nordic countries: Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland
  • Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
  • As well as Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and the United Kingdom

"Today we had our first meeting in this format. I am grateful to my friend, the Danish Minister of Defense, for his leadership and hospitality. We agreed that the next meeting in the Northern Group-Ukraine format will be held in Ukraine. We had a frank, sincere and constructive conversation with our colleagues," the Defense Minister wrote.

The participants of the meeting discussed plans for 2025, Ukraine's urgent needs and how to meet them together as quickly as possible.

They focused on common threats and equipping combat brigades with heavy equipment.

According to Umerov, investment in the Ukrainian defense industry is a separate priority. More and more countries are joining the financing of Ukrainian production, including within the framework of the Danish model: Sweden, Norway, and Lithuania.

He also thanked the allies for their assistance.

These countries are leaders in supporting Ukraine. They were the first to

  • provided main battle tanks of the Western model
  • provided long-range ammunition for strikes behind enemy lines
  • provided long-range air defense systems
  • supported Ukraine in financing the defense industry
  • provided F-16 fighter jets.
