Trump adviser Epshteyn extorted money from candidates for positions in next administration - WP
The personal adviser and leading lawyer of US President-elect Donald Trump tried to covertly benefit as an intermediary in the appointment of candidates for positions in the next administration.
According to Censor.NET with reference to The Wasington Post, this was reported by Trump's legal team.
Their report states that Epshteyn approached potential candidates and promised them advocacy before the president in case of regular payments for consultations.
"A top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump asked potential administration nominees to give him monthly consulting fees in exchange for advocating for them to Trump", the article says.
The newspaper's interlocutors said that among those who received such offers was Treasury Secretary candidate Scott Bessent.
"According to the report, one day after Bessent met with Trump for the first time in February, Epshteyn invited him to lunch at a Palm Beach hotel, where Epshteyn asked for a monthly stipend of at least $30,000 per month" the newspaper writes.
Epshteyn denied the allegations.
Who offered the check
Trump himself proposed to conduct the legal review. He ordered it after he learned about Epshteyn's demands on potential candidates. The document also recommends that Epstein's work and close interaction with Trump be terminated, as Epshteyn's actions could lead to a reputational scandal for Trump and potential criminal prosecution.
Epshteyn is a fairy of good news
One of Trump's advisers said that Epstein often calls the president-elect to deliver positive news.
"He is the good news fairy," a top Trump adviser said.
According to media reports, many of Trump's advisers were sceptical of Epshteyn because he was making recommendations for positions that went beyond his legal duties.
