Bill to reduce the age limit for mobilization to 55 years

The bill that proposes to lower the upper age limit for mobilization of men from 60 to 55 will not be considered in the Verkhovna Rada in the near future.

This was stated by a member of the Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, People's Deputy Fedir Venislavskyi, on Ukrainian Radio, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, it is "very difficult" to talk about legislative initiatives that will lead to a decrease in the number of Ukrainian citizens who can be mobilized.

The enemy, on the contrary, is increasing its mobilization efforts and encouraging citizens both in cash and by writing off loan arrears. All this is aimed at increasing the number of citizens involved in the army of the aggressor country. That is why this bill has not been considered in Ukraine even in the first reading," the People's Deputy emphasized.

Venislavskyi added that there are "no grounds" to say that the bill will be considered in the near future.

Earlier, Fedir Venislavskyi stated that military units refuse to mobilize men aged 50-60 because they are no longer able to perform the necessary tasks. There are two cases when this category can still be called up.

What preceded it?

Earlier, People's Deputy Oleksii Honcharenko reported on the adoption of a certain directive of the Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which prohibits the conscription of persons of limited fitness aged 18 to 25. Conscription will be possible only with written consent.

He stated that the text of the directive is under a classification, so it cannot be published, but the directive itself has already been received by regional and district TCT.

Honcharenko also said that men aged 50-60 can be mobilized only under a separate mobilization order issued by the General Staff for a specific person.
