US President Joe Biden asks the US Congress to approve an additional $24 billion. The funds should be used to strengthen military support for Ukraine.

According to media reports, the White House Office of Management and Budget proposes to include this financial assistance in the package of decisions to avoid the next presidential administration stopping funding.

"Out of the total amount of $24 billion, $8 billion is provided to finance contracts of American companies to supply weapons to Ukraine. Another $16 billion is to be used to replenish the US military arsenal," the statement said.

However, according to media reports, some Republicans disagree with this step, criticising the request.

"Joe Biden just gave away 4.7 billion in your taxpayer dollars by unilaterally "forgiving" loans to Ukraine. Congress must not give him a free gift to further sabotage President Trump’s peace negotiations on the way out the door. Any Biden funding demands should be DOA", says Senator Mike Lee from Utah on the social network X.
