The head of the Special Staff for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding, believes that the Armed Forces will have to withdraw from Pokrovsk at the end of 2024 or early next year.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to NV.

Freuding said that there is a "particularly critical situation" in the area of Pokrovsk, Donetsk region.

He noted that the city is of great importance for further hostilities, as it is an important transportation hub. Assessing the situation at the front, he added that Ukrainian soldiers will have to withdraw from the city to avoid being destroyed.

"Russia is attacking with people and means that are almost impossible for us to imagine. So far, the Russian armed forces are losing up to 2,000 people a day in Donbas, but they can compensate for these losses," said Major General Freuding.

The situation in the Kursk direction, he said, also remains tense. Ukrainian troops have been holding their ground since the August offensive, but Russia has amassed up to 60,000 troops to try to retake the territory.

"Ukraine's defense is showing considerable resilience, but the pressure will increase in the coming weeks and months," Freuding emphasized.
