Blinken and Sybiha had a conversation

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a conversation. Among other things, the diplomats discussed strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and energy sustainability.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to a post by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the social network X.

"I had a conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to inform him about the consequences of Russia's intensified air terror against civilians, critical infrastructure, power grids and nuclear energy in Ukraine," Sybiha wrote.

The Ukrainian foreign minister said that he also discussed with Blinken steps to strengthen Kyiv's defense capabilities, as well as its air shield and energy resilience.

According to the Voice of America, Blinken first expressed condolences for the victims of the large-scale missile attack on critical energy infrastructure by Russia on November 27-28, and assured that Ukraine would have the full support of the United States for additional protection measures as winter approaches.

Regarding NATO, Blinken informed the Ukrainian Foreign Minister of the U.S. goals for sustained support for Ukraine, which will be discussed during upcoming diplomatic meetings with NATO and through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

The Secretary of State also reaffirmed the United States' unwavering commitment to a sovereign and democratic Ukraine, as well as to supporting a just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter.

They also discussed the latest developments on the battlefield and the flow of U.S. security assistance and budgetary aid packages.

Earlier, the media reported that Ukraine called on NATO countries to decide on its invitation to join the Alliance.
