Ambassador to Germany Makeev: It is wrong to draw "red lines" around oneself, not in front of aggressor
Ukraine's Ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeyev, would like to see Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine become an issue in the German election campaign. He warns against drawing "red lines" to support his country.
He said this in an interview with dpa, Censor.NET reports citing ZDF.
Makeev expects the German democratic parties to take more active steps to support Ukraine.
"Today, more than ever, we need action. And this is what I expect from the democratic parties in this election campaign," the ambassador said.
I believe that it is wrong to draw red lines around yourself, not in front of the enemy and aggressor," Makeev emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that according to an annual study by the Bundeswehr, support for military assistance to Ukraine is growing in Germany.
To recap, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed on November 6, 2024, when Olaf Scholz announced the dismissal of Finance Minister Christian Lindner, who is the chairman of the Free Democratic Party. Almost all members of the government from the Free Democratic Party (FDP) led by Lindner resigned.
