More than 4 thousand sappers are working on demining in Ukraine - Shmyhal
More than 4,000 sappers and more than 150 pieces of equipment are carrying out demining in Ukraine.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the Demine Ukraine forum, Censor.NET reports.
Reportedly, thanks to the efforts of 70 mine action operators, more than 4,000 sappers and more than 150 pieces of equipment, almost 35,500 square kilometers of Ukrainian land have been returned to operation.
"The potentially mined area today is about 139,000 square kilometers," the Prime Minister said.
Shmyhal also emphasized the importance of international support in the demining process. About 50 partner countries have joined the humanitarian demining coalition, providing financial assistance of more than $1 billion.
These resources, according to the Prime Minister, help to accelerate the clearance of mines and explosive ordnance, which ensures safety for local residents and a return to peaceful life.
