Starting from October 1, 2024, military unit commanders were authorized to carry out conscription without the participation of territorial recruitment centers. More than two thousand people are liable for military service and reservists have already used this procedure.
This was announced by the head of the Main Personnel Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Horbach, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
According to him, the new approach to mobilization demonstrates growth dynamics. In October, 700 people started serving under the call-up from military unit commanders, in November - more than 1300 people.
At the same time, Horbach clarified that today conscription through mobilization remains the most significant tool for replenishing the Armed Forces and other structures of the Security and Defense Forces.
The recruitment system continues to evolve. At the initiative of the General Staff, mechanisms are being introduced to create more opportunities for citizens who voluntarily wish to serve during mobilization, including in their own choice of military unit," he explained.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine currently have five such centers within the military recruitment system, including the Ground and Air Assault Forces, the Navy, the Territorial Defense Forces, and the Special Operations Forces.
"The nearest plans are to create another recruitment center in the Unmanned Systems Forces. Active work is underway to form full-time recruiting units at the level of combat brigades by the end of 2024. We are talking about creating separate groups of recruiters from three to seven people in each such unit, depending on its size," Horbach added.
