President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is delicately changing his rhetoric on ending the war, hinting that Ukraine is ready to stop fighting for the return of Russian-occupied territories in exchange for NATO membership.

According to Censor.NET, The Wall Street Journal writes about this.

"In a series of interviews and public statements over the past week, Zelensky has sought to show that he is prepared to negotiate an end to the conflict - something that President-elect Donald Trump repeatedly called for on the campaign trail," the article says.

Throughout most of the war, Zelenskyy insisted that his country would continue to fight until it returned the occupied territories, the author notes.

At the same time, the WSJ writes, the president does not rule out the possibility of a ceasefire under the condition of NATO's protection of Ukraine.

However, there are two serious obstacles - Ukraine's unlikely accession to NATO in the near future and Russia's lack of interest in the talks, the journalists write.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that freezing the war without significantly strengthening Ukraine would lead to the occupation forces of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin resuming their aggression in a few years.

Military assistance to Ukraine in focus

NATO Secretary General Rutte called for a focus on supporting Ukraine with weapons. The West is considering an agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine during the end of the war. Former NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said that the temporary transfer of the occupied territories to Russia is possible if Ukraine is given serious security guarantees.
