West is preparing "golden exile" for Zelenskyy in London while Ukraine holds presidential elections - El Mundo
For the past two weeks, diplomatic circles in the Ukrainian capital have been "rumoured" that the West is preparing a "golden exile" for Volodymyr Zelenskyy in London while Ukraine holds its presidential election. This could be after an agreement with Russia to end the war is reached.
This was reported by El Mundo with reference to diplomatic circles in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports with reference to hromadske.
As noted, diplomats in Kyiv have been "rumour-mongering" about Zelenskyy 's departure to London in recent weeks. They called it a "golden exile".
The publication writes that at this time, Ukraine is supposed to hold presidential elections, which have been expected since 2023 and had to be postponed due to the war.
According to El Mundo, such a step would be accompanied by "fast-track" accession to the European Union, financial assistance for reconstruction and the deployment of European peacekeepers. These troops would be mainly from the UK and France on the line of contact with the Russians, frozen as soon as a ceasefire is reached to "ensure that the ceasefire is respected".
The Spanish edition, in particular, refers to the plan of US President-elect Donald Trump' s special envoy Keith Kellogg for Ukraine, which was previously described in the media.
In particular, it will propose a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine along the current line of hostilities.
"The United States will continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defences to ensure that Russia does not take any further steps forward and launch new attacks after a ceasefire or peace agreement. However, future US military assistance will require Ukraine to engage in peace talks with Russia," the newspaper quoted Kellogg's plan as saying.
