In Minsk, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko signed a security treaty between Russia and Belarus within the framework of the so-called Union State.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Interfax.

According to Putin, the interstate treaty on security guarantees "defines mutual allied obligations to ensure defense, protection of the sovereignty, independence and constitutional order of Russia and Belarus, the integrity and inviolability of the territory and external border of the Union State, with the use of all available forces and means."

He noted that this refers, in particular, to Russian tactical nuclear weapons deployed in Belarus.
