The Verkhovna Rada is not currently considering any legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age or to forcefully mobilize women.

This was stated by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Fedir Venislavskyi, Censor.NET reports citing RBC-Ukraine.

"No legislative initiatives to reduce the mobilization age from 25 to 18 or to 20 years are being considered either in the parliament in general or in the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada on national security, defense and intelligence in particular," he said.

According to Venislavskyi, no bills or proposals to amend Article 23 of the Law of Ukraine "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization", which stipulates that Ukrainian citizens under the age of 25 are not subject to military service during mobilization, have been submitted to the National Security Committee.

The MP emphasized that no ideas on the forced mobilization of women who are liable for military service or will become so after voluntary basic military service are being considered.

According to the current legal regulation, women who are liable for military service can be called up for military service during mobilization only with their voluntary consent.

"All other statements, including those concerning the forced mobilization of 18-24-year-olds after they have completed basic military service, are manipulations and speculations. Including by some of our colleagues," Venislavskyi added.
