On Sunday, December 8, Pope Francis called for a ceasefire on all fronts in the world, including in Ukraine, before Christmas.

In his speech, the pontiff mentioned Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Myanmar and South Sudan.
"Let us continue to pray for peace in the suffering Ukraine, in the Middle East - in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, and now Syria - in Myanmar, in South Sudan, and everywhere where people suffer from war and violence. I call on governments and the international community to ensure that we reach the Christmas holiday with a ceasefire on all fronts of the war," Francis said.
In addition, he prayed for those sentenced to death in the United States to have their sentences commuted.
Earlier, Pope Francis said that the winter would be difficult for Ukraine. The pontiff called for support for Ukrainians.
