Russia wants peace on its own terms: Peskov’s statement

The Kremlin considers negotiations on Ukraine based on the "Istanbul agreements" possible.

According to Censor.NET, citing Russian media, this was stated by the Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"Russia does not need a temporary truce in Ukraine, but a full-fledged peace with the fulfillment of its conditions," he said.

The Kremlin noted that it considers it possible and necessary to hold negotiations on Ukraine on the basis of the "Istanbul agreements."

According to the Russian dictator's spokesman, Moscow does not yet see any prerequisites for negotiations with Kyiv, as Ukraine is allegedly "evading them."

Earlier, The New York Times published a document discussed by Ukraine and Russia in the spring of 2022. The draft of the so-called peace treaty was not agreed upon.

On June 14, 2024, dictator Putin held a meeting of the Russian Foreign Ministry board, during which he said that in order to start negotiations, Ukraine must completely withdraw its troops from the 4 occupied regions.

Putin also said that the West should immediately provide Russia with security guarantees.

The Russian Foreign Ministry recently said that Russia is ready to study Trump's proposals on Ukraine, but this does not mean that they will be supported.
