Ukraine is not ready for negotiations with Russia due to insufficient support from West - OP
Ukraine is not yet ready to start negotiations with Russia, as it does not have sufficient support from its Western partners.
The head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said this in an interview with Suspilne, Censor.NET reports.
"We must enter into such negotiations from a position of strength and confidence when we can conduct a dialog on an equal footing. So far, this is not the case," Yermak said in an interview.
Yermak emphasized that the Kremlin's "language of ultimatums" is unacceptable to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. "There will be no new Minsk or Normandy formats," he said.
Asked whether Ukraine is strong enough to negotiate, Yermak replied: "Today, not yet".
"We lack weapons. We lack the status we are talking about - that we really need an invitation to NATO. And an understanding of clear guarantees that would protect us, so that we can be sure that this will never happen again and Putin will not return in 2-3 years. That is why we are talking to our partners today about why it is so important to strengthen Ukraine," he added.
The head of the OP also commented on the information about Donald Trump's possible "peace plan". According to Yermak, there is no such plan yet, but Trump's team is ready to discuss Ukraine's vision of ending the war.
Earlier, President Zelenskyy said that Trump's campaign promise to end the war in Ukraine "in 24 hours" should not be taken literally. The media reported that during a meeting in Paris, Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron discussed their vision of sustainable peace with Trump, but did not disclose details.
