16-year-old boy sets fire to electricity transformers in Odesa region, he faces up to 10 years in prison - National Police
A 16-year-old boy who damaged two transformer substations in the Izmail district was detained in Odesa region.
This was reported by the Department of the National Police of the region, Censor.NET informs.
In early December, law enforcement officers received a report of arson attacks on two electricity facilities.
"A few days later, in the course of a set of operational and investigative measures, law enforcement officers found that a teenager from the Safianivska community was involved in the crimes. The young man came across an advert on the Internet for 'easy money' and received an offer from an unknown person to set fire to transformer substations for a monetary reward. After agreeing, he looked for the facilities, bought petrol, and in the evening went to pour petrol on them and set them on fire," the police said.
The guy filmed the process and sent it to the customer for a report on the "work" done, after which he received a reward on his bank card.
Law enforcement officers seized the clothes he wore during the arson attacks, a mobile phone with a report, a bank card with money on the account, and other material evidence of criminal activity.
The young man was served a notice of suspicion of intentional damage to two energy facilities, which led to disruption of their normal operation, committed in a generally dangerous manner.
The court imposed on the suspect a measure of restraint in the form of nightly house arrest. According to Part 2 of Article 194-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the man faces up to 10 years in prison.
