Australian embassy to resume operations in Kyiv

The Australian Embassy in Ukraine will resume its operations

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, who is on a visit to Ukraine, has announced that the embassy will reopen in the coming months.

She announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports.

"I am pleased to announce that we can now reopen our embassy in Kyiv. We have always said that we would do this when it is safe to do so. We have been working to ensure that all security conditions are met. Now I am very pleased to be here and to announce the reopening of the Australian Embassy in Ukraine," the minister said.

According to her, Ambassador Paul Lehmann will be working in Kyiv next month.

"And in the coming months, our embassy will be fully operational," Wong added.

Earlier it was reported that on December 18, 2024,  Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong arrived in Kyiv on a visit.

Foreign Minister Sybiha met with Wong. She made the first bilateral visit to Ukraine by an Australian foreign minister in ten years.
