Kellogg says Ukraine and Russia are ready for peace talks

Special Representative of US President-elect Donald Trump Keith Kellogg said that Ukraine and Russia are ready for peace talks due to significant losses on the front on both sides and exhaustion.

He said this on Fox Business, Censor.NET reports.

Kellogg reminded that according to a representative of the US Department of Defense, Russia loses up to 200 soldiers a day.

It was also reported that several hundred North Korean soldiers were killed or wounded during the fighting in the Kursk region. At the same time, according to him, Ukrainian troops lost about 40% of the territory they seized in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

"Imagine a fight in a cage. You have two fighters and they both want to stop. You need a referee to separate them. And I think President Donald Trump can do that," Kellogg said.

According to him, the current situation on the front line is characterized by a "war of attrition," where the ratio of losses between Ukraine and Russia is approximately 1 to 5.

After a thousand days of war, with 350 or 400 thousand dead Russians and 150 thousand dead Ukrainians, or something like that, both sides are saying, 'Maybe it's time to step back,'" Trump's special envoy emphasized.

Kellogg also announced an upcoming trip to Kyiv in January but noted that the details of the visit will be announced by the Trump transition team.

"We can't make policy because of the Logan Act. But we can talk to people... any trip will be designed to gather information, not to set policy," the special envoy added.

What preceded it?

Earlier, Kellogg stated his readiness to ensure peace through force.

Donald Trump's newly appointed special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that the team of the newly elected US president is preparing visits to listen to Moscow and Kyiv's views on ending the war.

It later became known that Keith Kellogg would visit Kyiv and several other European capitals in early January 2025.
