Denmark has announced the 23rd aid package for Ukraine, which allocates 2.1 billion Danish kroner to strengthen the air defense and combat aviation capabilities of Ukraine.

According to Censor.NET, citing Interfax-Ukraine, this was reported on the website of the Danish Ministry of Defense, in addition, the aid package includes a financial contribution to the operation of Ukrainian F-16 capabilities.

"One of the most urgent needs of Ukraine today is the ability to protect itself from Russian air strikes. That is why we are prioritizing greater support for air defense. In addition, the package includes a financial contribution to the operation of Ukraine's combat aviation capabilities, in which Denmark has played a special role by donating F-16 combat aircraft and training personnel," said Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

Denmark, in cooperation with Sweden, is also donating several CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, as well as sending more personnel to support NATO in Ukraine and expanding the contribution of personnel to the EU's military support mission to Ukraine.

"Russia is sparing no means in its illegal war. This is evidenced by Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy system, aimed at putting pressure on the Ukrainian population during the cold winter months. This is inhuman. This makes it even more important that Europe and Denmark continue to support Ukraine, especially Ukraine's air defense. We have to put Ukraine in the best possible position," added Lund Poulsen.

The total cost of the package is DKK 2.1 billion and is financed by a reallocation from the Ukraine Fund in 2024, as well as a reimbursement from the European Peace Fund.

Earlier it was reported that Ukraine would receive Caesar howitzers from France and Denmark a year earlier.
