The issue of providing 20 additional air defense systems to protect energy facilities in Ukraine is being discussed as a matter of urgency.

This was announced by the head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine, Patrick Turner, in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, details on specific systems and terms of provision cannot yet be disclosed, but the issue is extremely important and urgent.

"We know that this is an urgent need and an urgent request. I can assure you that a lot of time was devoted to discussing this request at the meeting in Brussels and that work on it is being done as a matter of urgency," Turner said.

He also clarified that this issue was an important point at the meeting of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other leaders of the alliance.

"Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made a very specific request, and the secretary general asked the ministers to help fulfill that request. I think that individual members of the alliance will make efforts to fulfill this request," Turner said.

According to him, the meeting of NATO foreign ministers focused on fulfilling Ukraine's request, and some allies are already working on it.

It was recently reported that the Alliance is aware of Ukraine's request for an additional 19 air defense systems to protect critical infrastructure from Russian attacks.
