There have been no bills to reduce the mobilization age from 25 to 18 years in the Verkhovna Rada or in our specialized Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, in particular.

This was stated by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Oleksandr Zavitnevych, Censor.NET reports.

According to him, the information disseminated in the media today is false.

"We ask media representatives to be attentive to primary sources. Legislative activity is the responsibility of the parliament. Accordingly, the parliament can talk about what legislative initiatives are being worked on," the statement said.

On the morning of December 24, a number of media outlets quoted Serhii Lunych, a representative of the 17th Brigade of the National Guard, as saying that the brigade was ready to accept 20-year-olds, and that a bill to lower the mobilization age had allegedly already been drafted and was awaiting approval. Later, the 17th Brigade of the National Guard officially denied the information.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that signals about lowering the mobilization age are not an honest discussion. It is crucial to save the lives of our people, our youth.
