The Security Service eliminated a large-scale criminal scheme in the Kyiv City State Administration. As a result of complex measures, the SSU detained red-handed the head of one of the regional branches of a well-known party, who demanded a USD 1 million bribe from a private entrepreneur.

According to the case file, in exchange for this amount, the politician promised to "resolve the land issue" that the businessman had with the Kyiv City State Administration officials.
In particular, the defendant guaranteed that the entrepreneur would be leased a plot of land in the recreational part of Kyiv near the Dnieper River, which is on the balance sheet of the Kyiv community.
What did the investigation reveal?
According to the investigation, the businessman had previously tried to obtain an official permit from the Kyiv City State Administration. However, according to the case file, officials refused the entrepreneur's request, citing artificially created bureaucratic obstacles.
The head of the private company was then approached by a politician who introduced himself as a lawyer and offered to lease the land for 25 years in exchange for a USD 1 million bribe.
It is documented that in return for this amount, the defendant "guaranteed" to agree on the land issue in the relevant commission and during meetings of the Kyiv City Council.
The SSU detained a politician-lawyer in Kyiv red-handed when he received a USD 900,000 "advance".
Suspicion.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed on a large scale or by an organised group). The article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
The issue of choosing a measure of restraint against the suspect is currently being decided. Law enforcement officers have prepared a motion to keep him in custody with an alternative bail of UAH 38 million.
Comprehensive measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. In particular, law enforcement officers are conducting searches at the KCSA offices.
