Unknown drones attack Baltimore airfield in Voronezh
On 25 December, explosions were heard near the Russian Baltimore airfield in Voronezh.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Astra Telegram channel.
It is noted that yesterday, drones tried to strike the "Baltimore" military airfield in Voronezh, over which several drones were allegedly shot down.
The wreckage of the drones allegedly fell on a garage in Voronezh, causing it to burn down. In the village of Novohremyache, a downed drone damaged the roof of a residential building.
"There were no casualties, the airfield was not damaged," the newspaper writes.
Also, according to the head of the Centre for Occupation Studies and former adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, explosions occurred around 5:00 a.m. on 26 December near the "Baltimore" military airport. According to the official Russian version, one UAV was shot down. Locals reported several explosions.
The publication reminds that on 25 December, the Russian Ministry of Defence said that it had allegedly intercepted 59 drones. At the same time, 26 drones were allegedly destroyed over the Belgorod region, 23 over the Voronezh region, three over the Kursk, Bryansk and Tambov regions, and one over the Sea of Azov.
What is known about the Russian airfield?
"Baltimore" airfield - previously known as "Voronezh-B". Located in the Sovetsky district of Voronezh. The 47th Bomber (formerly mixed) Aviation Regiment of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division of the 6th Air Force and Air Defence Army of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces is stationed there. The main type of aircraft is Su-34, which the Russians use for GAB attacks.
It has been used by Russian troops to launch air strikes on the territory of Ukraine since 24 February 2022.
On 2 January 2023, explosions occurred in Voronezh at the "Baltimore" airfield, where Russian combat aircraft were stationed.
